Fair Result

This week the Bees Colts welcomed Roundhegians to the Hive for a friendly, the weather we have been having and had this weekend made for a sticky pitch, so made this game all about the forwards it was difficult to get the backs moving and into the game for both teams.
When the hegians started to arrive there was a few big lads within their squad so might be a tough game our the Bees as the was missing some key players this week but could still call on 17 players this i feel has been the difference this season for the Colts having a great team spirit, but made the team selection a little harder for Tafa Head Coach but the lads playing out of position gave it there best.
from the start hegians wanted to play a tight game to try stave the Bees of the ball , for the first 10 mins it was still nil-nil but hegians found a gap in the Bees defense and tuck it missing the conversion 5-0, but the Bees kept their head and pluged away with a couple of breaks from Byron Finn, linking up with Alvaro Casas moved the team up to the hegians 22, with quick ball from the Ruck and good hands the ball found its way to Luca Devittoris to take the ball round a couple of the hegians players and over for his first try in his first game of the season for the Colts, he also worked hard in the defense using his experience to help marshal the back line and slowing up Hegians attacks, with Byron Finn converting gave the Bees a 2 point lead. We ended up losing Dom Walker who had been doing well at scrum half even tho he's our full back, so another mix up of the team saw Captain this week Lewis Peel again normally one of our flankers move into this position, but he was to move around in a couple of other position before the game was up so a big well done for his efforts today working hard in defense, this was to stay like this up to half time both teams cancelling out each others attacks.
the second have was very much the same and it was Hegians to take back the lead was a well worked try with the backs breaking some sloppy tackling with their conversion successful giving them a 12-7 lead, but the Bees never gave up even when a couple of call's should of gone their way, but once again Alvaro linking up with Byron again to and with only one defender in front of him then brushing him aside looked set for a good 60 meter try for it to be called forward pass, but the lads came back and just got on with the task in hand and once again another break by Byron who was having a great game, using his size and speed to good effect from the number 8 position, was marking yard after yard with few of the Hegians on his back still pumping his tree like legs, in defense he was putting in some bone crunching tackles to reward his great performance taking the try to tie the game with the conversion to win the game, no pressure but the wind decided otherwise for the ball to hit the side of the post, but looking at the game overall it was a fair result for both team, and sets up the return fixture in a couple of week an exciting game.but there was a great team performance to be fair to all the lads put in a hard shift like say the pitch was sticky so a lot of tired legs came of the pitch today Well Done to each and everyone.

Man of the Match went to Byron Finn this week for the hard work in defense and attack always keeping his team on the front foot Well Done!

speedy recovery to Dom Walker, Matthew Lee who had to retire with injury's as a team we would like to wish a speedy recovery to Roundhegians prop who also had to retire with a bad injury to his leg, and thank you to Roundhegians to a great game and for helping to set this fixture up as well, look forward to the return game.
