Two side's to the Colts today, but left it too late for the fight back.

This week saw Cup competitions of the Cup and Plate for Yorkshire, we had been drawn away to Guisborough, so Road Trip for the Colts. Travelling away to any game can be a hard task but to have a four hour round trip can take it out of the best of team.
we was also struggling with some players that we would class as first team starter, so had to do a lot of juggling about with the team.
Nice early start for the lads which when some turned up looked like they hadn't been to bed was going to make for a long day, least the weather was pleasant and dry.
we wasn't sure what to expect when we got there as the last fixture between the teams was called off as Guisborogh have struggled all season to getting a team together, but no fear there as they had sixteen waiting for us and from the outset was clear they had a big size advantage, which they would use to their advantage to good effect.
It's also easy to get a little full or even complacent when you look at how the seasons are turning out for the Clubs with both the Bees 1st team and Colts having fixture in the league against Guisborough, so the Bees having a better start to the season, there was a lot to play for but we all know Cup games are very much different to league one's.
So to the game it was the home side that got off to a good start like said using there size to good effect and running at the right players to make yards which to be fair any team would try early on to pin point any weakness in defense to use to their advantage,
it wasn't long before Guisborough was on the score sheet with some hard running, having keys players missing can mean it take a little to settle into your own game with having 5 of our players playing out of position, by no means is this excuses but it can knock a team, so wasn't long once again the home team taking another score from us, at this point it looked like some of the lads was still fast asleep on the coach as our execution and decisions just wasn't going to plan, its when Guisborough went over for their third unanswered try, the lads knew they was in for a tough day, but credit to the lads we show with ball in hand we can move about the pitch, and size doesn't always matter, with some quick hands and Josh Lawn finding him self in the back line went over for the Bees first try and the first of two for him for the game, with Byron Finn taking the extras to start clawing back the lead Guisborough had.
Time and Time again if a player doesn't have legs they can't run, with missed tackles going in its wasn't long before Guisborough was back over our try line, there was frustration creeping into the Bees team, but as we have always said this is a new season with a brand new team, but the same ethos applies we win as a team we lose as one. they way Guisborough was playing was hard to see how they have struggled this season with games an fielding a team, as they have a good team which could give any of the teams in our division a good game.
It was our little Spanish pocket rocket Alvaro Casas, who was covering at fly half never having played there before, as he is our No. 9, but give him an inch and he will punish any team, again Byron taking the extras this left the standing at HT 27-14 to the home side.
was hard to see the way Guisborough was playing and our first half display away back into the game for the Bees, but come second half and that old dare i say it football saying a tail of two halves, is what it was, maybe Guisborough found themselves in a position that was new to them and with them having such a dominant first half or that the Bees decided to wake up not sure but we was in for a nail biting second half with the Bees mounting a fight back the lads giving themselves a good talking too.
Our forwards had tried to match the size of the home team but was on the losing end today with this with Guisborough side working well in the scrums and the ruck areas think that could be said was the difference today, Bees early on lost players through injury's so left the last 30 mins of the game with fourteen players, so once again another shuffle of the team saw Byron move into the No. 8 spot which was a spark they Bees needed as his carrying of the ball and hard yards and even harder defense put his team on the front foot for the last part of the game, also being rewarded with a 13 point haul for his efforts, so maybe a move to the forwards for him in future games to come.
But the Bees starting to grow in confidence saw some frustrations from some of the home team with some silly penalty and discipline which had been unchecked all game by the ref saw 2 yellow cards in the second half for them, but Guisborough wasn't going to give up there lead without a fight was extending their lead with ten mins to go its was 36-26 to the home side, all thought it was a done deal but our very own Flash Connor Capper thought otherwise going from his 22 and cutting the home side up with his pace went over for a try, with Byron just pushing the ball inches wide for the extras missed, with the clock and home supporter counting down, the Bees work hard to get the ball up field with Byron forcing himself over with a few defenders on top of him, this time converting his own try brought it to within three points, but time just wasn't on the Bees side with the final score
Guisborough 36-33 Bradford & Bingley
Think the Lads need to start playing smart rugby in turning pressure and penalty's into points when playing in the right areas, but that comes with experience.
We wish the best of luck to Guisborough for the next rounds of the cup, and hope we can get the league fixture with them in the New Year.
Man of the Match went to William Bentley for his hard work throughout the game Well Done. another one of those mentions to a player that again is always there trying his best and working hard, today Sohail Zafar was one such player again starting in a position he doesn't play, but where the home side thought they had a miss match with the size thing he thought otherwise bringing down some of there bigger players so Well Done!
as we said after the game lets take the last 30 minutes into our next fixtures starting with another away trip to Ripon in the League.
