Wharfdale push the Bees all the way.

With the disappointment from last week still ringing in the lads ears, the lads have set the bar high for the standards they are wanting to achieve this season with some really good performances and results going their way, to keep the pressure on the division we have to get back to that winning way.
This week and again enjoying another home fixture we welcomed Wharfdale Colts to Wagon lane, the fixtures between the two clubs no matter what age group has always been a tough one to call such is the standard both clubs aim too.
We know its always going to be an exiting game and an entertaining one to watch, with the numbers coming along to support the Bees Colts team this season wouldn't be disappointed either. both teams have suffered with injuries with Wharfdale being hit the worst of the two team, the Bees was in a better position that two of our lads offered their services to Wharfdale to make the numbers even, a special mention to Matteo Horn and Sohail Zafar for stepping up with great sportsmanship and in turn giving their own team a good run for their money with some good running and tackling, it was always going to be a hard fought game and it was with neither team backing down there was some good defense and attacking rugby from both sides, it was the Bees to open the score with quick hands and even quicker feet from Matt Nixon who was also playing out of position at outside centre but slotted in to give a good account of himself, he was also Captain today so lead by example in breaking tackles to go over for the first try with Byron Finn converting, but Wharfdale are a very resilient team and worked hard putting the Bees defense to the test with a good break they was soon on the score sheet and with a missed conversion keeping the teams apart it was Game On!! the ball was going through so many hands with the turnovers coming thick and fast, but strong running by the Bees found themselves putting Wharfdales defense to the test once again, with a Wharfdale player just straying offside gifting the Bees with a penalty up stepped Byron Finn to take the points and give the Bees a little breathing space, with Half time looming 10-5 it was to finish, at Half time the Bees Coaches wanting to give instructions to their team just sat back as listening to the lads telling each other what the coaches wanted to get over to them, showing just how the team are always trying to up their game and standards with each game they play, but it was the Wharfdale that came out the stronger from the start of the second half and breaking through some wayward tackles managed to find themselves in the Bees 22, with the Bees quickly back in defense turned the ball over and clearing their lines the one thing that stood out today was how well the Bees scrimmaging was and had Wharfdale back peddling at every scrum and taking a few against the head this giving the Bees backs time on the ball with Byron making hard yards allowing the forwards to catch up its like having another forward in the back to punch holes in the defense of the opposition from this the ball was recycled out to Ryan Lister our fly-half to put the ball over and chase down his own kick allowing the Wharfdale player to play at the ball but causing the mistake to pick the ball up and go over for what we all though was a clear try but the ref thought otherwise and disallowed it, allowing Wharfdale to clear their lines, the Bees winning the line out set about gaining the ground again with he forwards working hard with their pick and drives moving closer to the try line it was Matty Lee to claim the honors and stretching the Bees lead to 15-5, but it was Wharfdale to have the last say of the game to leave the last five minutes very tense and anyone's game, it was to be the last play of the game with the Bees working hard in defense to stop Wharfdale form taking the win.
Final Score Bradford & Bingley Colts 15 - 12 Wharfdale Colts
I tend to the sing praises of some of the lads that carry the team forward but their are a couple coming to training and working hard on their own game as well as being team players, one such player Oscar Allen put in a shift today from the start and worked hard in defense and attack when he had the ball so Well Done young man keep it up.
Man Of the Match today went to again another player that fly's just under the radar, but has great speed and can chase down even the biggest of players and bring them down he also lead the team today he may not say much but lets his game do all his talking so Well Done to Matthew Nixon.
also once again thank you to the support from our parents and a big thank you to the following the Colts are starting to get coming down to Wagon lane and cheering the team on it mean so much to the lads and the coaching staff so please carry on coming and enjoying the rugby that's on display which is the next generation of the club. i also keep saying this but lads the more we get to training the stronger we get as a team, so down this week in preparation for our away trip next week in the next round of the Yorkshire Plate.
