Hard fought win, as Wetherby put up a good display.

The Colts back to League duty this week as they welcomed Wetherby to the Hive. With the Bees taking the spoils from the first game of the season against Wetherby. Also a chance for the Bees to extend their lead at the top of the League, we was in for a cracking game.
With the Bees looking to put the disappointment from last week being knocked out the Yorkshire Cup, it was evident from the start the lads was going to make sure that game was very much behind them, with a strong display in the forwards even the coaches from Wetherby felt our pack was much stronger and more drilled to theirs, Wetherby was missing a few key players but this didn't stop them, as with ball in hand they always looked to run at the Bees defense to test their resolve, the lads held fast a turning the ball over time and again all game, our scrimmaging was a lot stronger pushing Wetherby back. As the first game showed Wetherby was going to struggle with our very own Flash Connor Capper using his speed to open their defense to almost go 60 meters to open the scoring but for a try saving tackle from the Wetherby full back, but that was just to delay as the follow up support was fantastic with Matthew Nixon on hand to carry the move on, to be tackled just short of the try line this gave our forwards the chance to pick and drive for the line, it was our very own bulldozer Josh Lawn to drive over for the first of two try's, with Byron taking the extra kicking three out of five for the game.
it was our full back Dominic Walker to claim his first try of the season with a well work move with the back line running through Wetherby Bryon Finn drawing a few player to create a gap for Dominic to run through still having g to beat a couple of players himself went over in the corner to extend the Bees lead, but Wetherby was to peg the Bees back with so good pressure and their winger selling dummy's to the defensive line went over to a well worked try.
it was the turn of Lock Mike Joannides to take points from Wetherby for his second try in as many games. With the Bees forward using their strength, working their way down field picking and driving working really well, this gave Mike the opportunity which he didn't need asking twice brushing of tackles to use his strength forcing his was over the line.
what the Lads have been working on in training seem to we transferring on the the pitch as as the forward was working as a tight unit supporting the ball carrier, being the first to the breakdowns and rucking really well to give the back line good ball to work with, but Wetherby shows you can't switch off for one second as the went against the run of play to go over for what was their last score of the match, with half time being called it allowed for Wetherby to regroup and really make the Bees work for their points in the second half so all credit to Wetherby for sticking at it and giving their all, but on the day the Bees team was to be just to strong and clinical with the next try showing jut that again the pack giving the backs good field position to work from it was our general Ryan Lister who all game had work hard getting his team in some great positions, with the Bees attacking the defensive line of Wetherby.
it was Ethan Smith playing at scrum Half today so out of his comfort zone with a lovely weighted pass to Ryan putting boot to ball to the corner, but straight of the training field floated it up for Rhys McNicholl to run on to it catching it just perfect only for Wetherby to look on as he put the ball down for the Bees four try of the game and Rhy's first of the season, the last score was to be a forward try with Josh Lawn once again coursing Wetherby problem all game. to pick and drive close range.
Maybe the score didn't reflect the hard work Wetherby had put into the game and made Bees work for every point to day, but it also shows the hard work the Bees have put into training to give a performance like this.
Man Of The Match went to Josh Lawn for his tireless work rate all game in attack and very much in defense, putting in hard yard to get his team in good positions to work from and being rewarded with two try's to boot. Well Done Josh Lawn!!.

Final Score: Bradford & Bingley 31-12 Wetherby
