Cloudy with a chance of rain they said!!!!

The rain lashing against the windows and the wind gusting to almost tornado levels, you guessed it Sunday morning time for rugby. The joys but we wouldn't have it any other way would we ??
Back on the road again and away to Ilkley who like us only a couple of weeks ago had the club under water, on arrival the weather had worsened and looked unlikely as to the game going ahead with the ref making a pitch inspection decided the game could be played, moving kick off time forward.
Bees took to the field with only just a team with no subs due to players way with other commitments, it was the bees to get the game under way for all to see the conditions were going to play a huge part to the out come of the game, straight away the lads showed there intention not to give Ilkley an inch, the forwards bulling there opponents off the ball, with the conditions it was going to be a battle of the packs, think the backs thought they were spare parts at times. The backs defensive work came in handy at the right times, with level heads going through the phases and playing the ball close to hand.
It was Byron (Hulk) Finn with no ripped clothing this week to open the score running from the half way mark brushing off tackles to go under the sticks also converting his own try,he was to play a big part at number 8 as Ilkley couldn't really deal with his speed or strength, it was the turn of Tank Kyle to open his account from the match again showing his strength to power over the line at close range to which not many would be able to stop, but with hurricane force winds it wasn't going to be a day for kicking. The Bees by now having most of the possession, Ilkley never gave up and tried to attack but on the day Bees just proved to strong Half time came with credit to Ilkley making the Bees work for there points 17-0 at half time.
Bees went down to fourteen men five minutes into the second half losing Byron with an injury, it was the turn of our pack leader Connor to again show the strength Bees have in the pack this season and powered over the line, with Dom taking over kicking duitIes hitting the post which was unlucky. Bees seemed to take there foot of the gas a little and allowed Ilkley to get into the game and have a run at our defensive line, but for the big tackles being put on them by our very own Tom Oddy and Josh Ellis with Josh getting into the game from the wing and making some good runs moving his team up field also making some big hits. Kyle poped up again to add to his ever growing tally of try's this season. Bees were enjoying there game and using the ball well with the way the forwards and backs linked up to move the ball around the pitch, as l said Ilkley still making the Bees work for there points with Ilkley trying to move the ball down there line around the half way. Tom Oddy's vision intercepted the ball at speed to go under the sticks to make two try's total for the game, and Dom claiming his first conversion, which was to be the last of the scoring with about four minutes left the game played it self out in the middle of the park. Huge RESPECT to Ilkley l know there going through a transition at the moment and gave the Bees a good hard game WELL DONE to you lads keep up the hard work, we look forward to welcoming you all to Wagon Lane in the new year.
Final score Ilkley 0 Bees 34.
Once again the boys gave a good account of them selves with there support of each other and a growing confidence in the team can only bring more success. MoM was a difficult call this week and could of gone to a few of the lads this week, Tom Murphy having a big game playing flanker and alot of the time scrum half with is attacking play and defense but we decided this week Dom is our MoM with his vision on when to run with the ball or when to kick shows the maturity of this young man and his confidence in his game there alot more to come for this young man WELL DONE.
A big big thank you again to our parents and there support its not nice to stand at the side of the pitch in extreme weather like we have had for the last few weeks . I don't have to say it but lets get the numbers down to training theirs still a lot to work on in the development of this squad and we can only do this by training hard.
