So Proud In Defeat

The big day had arrived The final of the Yorkshire plate and once again an away trip in the competition we have only had one fixture at home so all the boys looking smart in there bees shirts and ties. An early start with a pick up at wagon lane we was on the coach and on our way to Hull Ionians where the finals of the cup, plate, and bowl for the U15s-U16s was to be contested .
What a fantastic day we was welcomed to a very pristine great looking club house and home to Hull Ionians , with the sun out some very well kept pitches made for a fantastic atmosphere, and we wasn't to be disappointed. From the start we could see the two teams was evenly matched with mutual respect from both teams ever-dent was to make the occasion even more special to all that was there. I can talk all day about the game how with the score by no means a reflection of the game, think Ionians wont disagree our forwards for much of the game out played there and as a hole we made Hull Ionians work hard for every point of there's, the score may suggest other wise looking as tho they out played us, they didn't they only started to put there points on in the last 10 mins of the game and with bees having two very clear trys disallowed early in the game, feel this may of played its part in the final score and they way the boys approached the remainder of the game , but they will learn some decisions just don't go our way sometimes also losing our man mountain Connor to an early injury to his knee stopping the game had an impact as well on the boys losing focus on the game a little, by no means am l taking away the Ionians style of play there are a very experienced side with great skill across the field and well drilled in there execution of there game plan and well done to them on there win.with our points coming from Henry with the opening try of the game followed by a fantastic try from jarred and Byron converting .it was Ionians speed in there backs that did the damage. final score 38-12.
At the start of the season if someone had said that the boys would be playing in a Yorkshire cup final(one of the biggest competitions in the uk) and was going to come 4th in it , also be unbeaten in there regular season we would of laughed in there faces but here we are 16 games unbeaten in the regular season and finalists in a Yorkshire plate, also being the most successful team this season at Bradford and Bingley to boot.
This season we have seen a group of boys turn into young men as parents and coaches we are so proud of the way they have grown and conducted them selves as a team week in week out turning up to training come rain or shine supporting each other seeing there confidences grow as players, having fantastic numbers to work with have payed dividend in the success of this season, all season i have been say this but a BIG THANK YOU to our parents there support has been fantastic we couldn't have ask for a brilliant group of parents, we also couldn't of asked for anymore of the boys, am sure they will learn and gain a valuable experience in moving forward to next season with new new challenges ahead. To the coaches/admin of the team also giving up there time working hard with the squad teaching the lads new skills and supporting them from the side lines and being there for the lads is a big ask of anyone but from all the parents/players THANK YOU. So hears to a new season and lets carry on our success lads WELL DONE to each and everyone of you all.
