Bradford and Bingley boys battling there way to the Yorkshire plate finals and beating Selby along the way.

So next round of the Yorkshire plate which happens to be the semi finals which has seen the bees away in every round bar one , so no different for this game playing away to Selby , with and early kick-off being given by Selby it was up at the crack of dawn for the team and our parent's, getting there on time was important as to get a really good warm up and preparation. With Otley and Hull contesting the other semi we was in good company of some of the stronger teams in Yorkshire, why not the squad has had a massive season so far and deserved to be part of that group as well. Selby have had some good wins coming into this game so am sure there confidence was high as was ours so would make for a big hard fought game and we wasn't disappointed .
Selby got off to the better start forcing the bees back it was going to be a day of defensive work, Selby won a penalty which was the first of many given against the bees, Selby opting to go for the three points, bees getting a let off when the kick went wide, both teams showing that they were evenly matched in every department so most of the game being played in the middle of the park was more like an arm wrestling match not rugby but Selby was to score the first points, as always bees brushed it off and got straight back to it. With bees gaining more ground and working well with the pick and drives giving the back's there opportunity to run at Selby this is where bees went down to 14 men with a very strange call by the ref which had a few of us scratching our heads, the lads held fast with a man down for the next ten minutes, it was our Spanish rocket Alavro to go down the blind side and score in the corner. Again the game settled into a tug or war of possession, this seem to finish the first half with Selby going in two points clear.
The start of the second half saw bees start the brighter getting the rucks and mauls working well and making a good platform for the back to work from, once again penalty's coming thick and fast pinning the bees back in there own twenty-two gave Selby the upper hand as they started to turn the screw with there attacks throwing everything at the bees but massive credit the bees defence did not waver there was all way someone there to take down there runners to Selby's frustration and with a well worked move the back's gave us breathing space in moving us up field where the forward tuck over with attacking and working there way up to Selby's try line this time it was our man mountain Connor to pick up from a ruck and push his way over this seemed to be against the run of play, the difference was the bees didn't need an invention to score so with ten minutes left on the clock Selby tried to move there way up to our try line but kept getting pushed back by a strong and very determined bees team, the lads just kept soaking up the pressure to the frustration of Selby not able to break the line so final whistle, game finished 10-7. Bees booking there well deserved place in the final. MoM today goes to the whole squad even to the boys injured that came to support there team mates, the coaches couldn't of asked any more from the boys there metal there revolve, support.WELL DONE again massive thank you to our parents for the early start and continued support, an also having a loud cheering squad as well this season . Back training Tuesday boys in readiness for our next game work hard and keep listening to the coaches it paying dividends.
