Fortress That Is Wagon Lane

Well the last game of 2014 saw the bees at home to Roundhegians. With a late decision on Saturday to play the game due to the run of bad weather we've been having .
It was a true mud fest which l think the lads enjoyed .
With only just having 15 to field against Hegs squad of 19, it was going to be a tough day for the boys, Hegs having a much larger pack the boys was going to need to be at there best .
It was bees that started the stronger and taking the first point through jarred or rhys sorry boys not sure so hard to tell apart the twins . With missed conversion Hegs came back at us with there pack making good yards allowing there back to run some great lines and over they went . The first half was going to be a very see-saw affair, the one thing that was showing was our forwards was holding and this time l can say was dominate against a much bigger pack it was going to be a game played through the packs as the conditions dictate, but that's not to say our backs ran with great lines and Byron being a beast all game with his strong runs drawing there defender in to try make the tackle creating space time again, it was kyle to take the honours next with a bulldozing run to go over under the sticks with half of Hegs team on his back, it was clear the boys wanted the win today. We suffered a big loss to Matty half way through the first half having to retire with a shoulder injury so taking us down to 14 men for the rest of the game, Hegs was able to create space with the extra man and went over but we would of put our heads down last season but the boys are maturing in all areas and kept there minds on the task in hand. It was henry with his bag of tricks and backing him self carved his way through Hegs defence and breaking tackles, the conversion good gave the bees a 19-10 lead at half time .
Hegs seem to start the stronger of the two teams in the second half but handling just let them down, with Ruh playing at scrum half today coursed them all sorts of problems his tackling and sniping runs allowed us to gain a foot hold in the game , with a great run up field from byron setting a great attacking platform to work with to take us to the Hegs try line and it was Byron to finish the move off crossing over and converting .Think that may of been the turning point for us as we started to dominate Hegs in all areas of the field, they came back at us but with loose tackling from us gave them another score but the boys brushed it of and got straight back at Hegs. All day our scrummaging and running and choke tackling was fantastic this is where l get lost as to who scored our last try sorry boys l believe it was one of the twins again who had a great day as well .with byron kicking 4 from 5 conversions. For me the moment of the match award goes to the team working there socks off with a fab performance could name all of the lads as they gave a great performance. MOM went to kyle with determination poring from him his bulldozing runs and tackling and support work was brilliant and well deserved MOM each game the boys are getting more determined to do better than the last game its credit to them and the coaches in training for working so hard and having fantastic numbers week in week out. We are making wagon lane a fortress with our style of play and team spirit Well DONE boys . Once again a huge thank you to the parents for there support its not fun standing in the wet and cold l know the lads and the coaches appreciate the support Thank you On behalf of myself and the coaches we would like to wish the hole squad a merry Christmas lets keep this fantastic form going in the new year .
