A Tail of Two Games.

After being woken up by the heavy rain and howling winds we could of been forgiven we were in for a very wet 3 way tie against our old foes Ilkley and a welsh touring team from Ruthin which we were honoured that they had chosen us to play in there tour of Yorkshire. But on arriving at wagon lane the sun was out and we thought the clocks had been put forward and on a warm autumn Sunday
, we had opted to start the day with our first game against Ilkley. With a miss kick from Ilkley to start the game bees went for a scrum, to show there intent that they were going to take the game to Ilkley straight from the start, what a start with alvaro collecting the ball from the scrum saw space on the blind side set of from the half way line and just blasted down the wing and over for our first score with bryon converting it .with our tails up we had the beating of Ilkley at the breakdowns we did our best to starve them of the ball and with our defence matching our attacking game, things seem to be working for us what we have been working in training, with more pressure being put on llkley it was theo who went over for the second try with a great timed run and interception with byron taking the 2, the one thing we didn't wont was to take our foot off the gas and credit to our boys they carried on rucking and mauling really well, with that giving our backs freedom to run and this is where byron went over with some lovely lines ran through Ilkleys defence and over for try no.3 and converting his own try half time couldn't come soon enough for Ilkley allowing them to regroup, second half saw Ilkley with there heads held high try to attack the bees defence but on the day we were stronger than them but they still tried so came to Will and our fourth try showing his speed down the wing and byron converting again confidence was high with the lads and its great to see so many playing with a smile and really enjoying them selves, Ilkley creating some phases and taking us down deep into our half it was turnover ball that saw henry with his dumbing through the Ilkley defence he had a great solo try to which byron let dom have ago at kicking which he puched wide and that was the finish to a very confident display from the bees.
Final score Bradford and Bingley 33 Ilkley 0.
The next match saw Ilkley take on Ruthin and it showed it wasn't going to be there day with more of them same being put on them by the welsh visitors. Final score was very similar to ours.
So to the big one the decider would it be England or Wales for the honours and from the start it look like it was going to be a well contested game from both sides with some great attacking and defence working well but it was the visitors slowly gaining the upper hand and late on in the first half saw them take the lead. Then to the second half and we started to undo the hard work we hard worked on throughout the morning and we seemed to go to sleep and allow them to extend there lead, even tho the score was showing maybe a one sided affair our defence was working better than our attack and was the same things we were shouting as last few weeks about our line speed and rucking and supporting of players which still need tweaking, so hard work and No Messing in training and we can sort these things out , by this time the visitors was coming away with the wins but credit to the boys we pushed the ball up the field and it was byron showing his power and will to go over with a few defenders still on his back , he converted his own try. And that seem to be the final score. Bees 7 Ruthin 25. Our MoM went to Alvaro for his speed of play and tackling, vision in attack he seems to be really settling into the team well with alot more exciting times to come from him. A big thank you to both bees and Ruthin boys who gave a hand to Ilkley as they was missing a few player's was disappointing that Ilkley left so early and couldn't of stayed till the finish. But once again a massive thank you to the parents it is fantastic to see so many supporting the team from the sidelines. Well done to all the boys the numbers we are getting down to training are amazing and making the coaching teams jobs easier the way they can work with the drills so keep it up.
