Under 12's away in 3 way at Salem

As the rain lashed down over Heaton Woods we welcomed Sam Conroy, Noel Durkin & Sam Mantle for their first run-outs of the season joining a squad of 14 players for what was effectively our local derby game.

The boys opened against Bradford Salem in a 3 way competition involving the Bees, Salem & Baildon in very difficult conditions. However Salem, strengthened by some borrowed Baildon players proceeded to take the game under control. Excellent rucking & counter rucking by the opposition meant that we didn’t find our feet until well into the second half. Time was against us and Salem ran out worthy winners.

No time for a break and we turned straight round to face Baildon. By this time the boys had warmed up with some useful passing and ball carrying from the team. An awesome performance from new boy Noel Durkin running in 3 tries and Louis Milner also going over after showing good support play meant that the boys were able to finish off Baildon in an effective manner, winning four tries to one.

As the season starts to unfold there have been glimpses of the potential that this Team threatens to release and it was welcoming to see a really positive attitude from all our players both on & off the field on what was a cold & wet Autumnal morning.

Next week it’s the short journey up the hill to Baildon, but before that some serious work on our rucking technique…..
