BEES GROW FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH

A squad of ten U9’s made the trip to the picturesque setting which is Wharfedale RUFC. Bees opened with a fine 5-1 victory over Huddersfield B, with a brace of tries from George W and tries from Alfie, Thomas and Jacob. There was some fine tackling from Fernando, George W and Alfie, and a super drive upfield by Curley.

Next up was a narrow defeat by Baildon, with tries from Ronan, Curley and George W. A tough match against Ilkley followed, however some respectability was retrieved against Keighley with tries from Fernando and George W. Nathan made his debut at the tournament and was unlucky to have a foot in touch inches from the line however he showed great promise for the season ahead.

The lads kept battling on and Alfie managed to cross the line against Aireborough, a game which saw tough tackles going in from Ronan, Alfie and Fernando. With the last game against the hosts, Wharfedale, Joshua who was Captain for the day rallied his troops, and with great efforts in the loose from Hodgey and Thomas, the day sadly ended in defeat.

It must be noted that the tournament was the best performance yet this season from the U9’s and we look forward to next Sunday’s trip to Bradford Salem.

It was decided that the Man-of the-match award” should be awarded to the entire squad for their super effort and not giving up against some strong sides- well done to all!”
