A great performance

A great thank you to Baildon for hosting this year’s festival consisting of 5 seven minute contact games.
The boys really stepped up to the mark for their first game against Ilkley securing a “blitzkrieg” victory in the first game.
The second game resulted in a further victory for the boys against Baildon until the run was broken by a draw against Aireborough. The narrow loss against the eventual tournament winners was offset against a spirited performance against Keighley in the final game when they were the victors by some five tries.
Ultimately the bees were unable to retain their winner’s status from last year; however this was not reflective of the boys’ commitment and performance. George Hahn thoroughly deserved his consecutive man of the match. Ben Feather secured the trophy for best tackler amongst close competition from all the boys. The tackling, passing and support play was a sight for sore eyes.
Many thanks to Dave Shepherd for his outstanding control of substitutions allowing me to be press ganged into “refereeing” some of the games (narrowly avoiding a lynching by opposition coaches and players). Further thanks for the support of Michael Antanaskovic and Chris Mantle for their help and to all the parents who assisted in hot chocolate and kit distribution duties.
