Bees U 14’s take comfortable win!

The score clearly tells a story though at times Bees U14’s had to dig deep to prevent further scores by the opposition.
Heath had come to us a joint development squad having linked recently with Huddersfield YMCA with the further addition of some U13’s playing up as part of their joint group.
Our boys were keen to put into practice some of the techniques that they’ve been working on in training and to shake off the memory of their last game.
Getting off to a strong start, the boys began to control the game through powerful rucking before Samuel Mantle opened the scoring followed by another from Tolly Lickley with Sam Bryan quickly converting.
The tries came thick and fast with Connor Gill and Sam Mantle going over the whitewash. A battle between the forwards was taking shape and just as Bees began to assert themselves Heath ran way with a break away effort, the conversion falling short.
Strong scrummaging, rampaging rucking, slick handling and powerful running is a winning combination and so it proved with the Bees running in a further 3 tries including tries from Rowan Thaper and Ashton Coatesworth before Sam Mantle finished off his hat trick. The last two being converted by Ben Davey.
As the Bees team was shuffled around giving all our players game time and the opportunity to play in different positions the boys took some time adjusting to the challenge of playing in different roles and conceded a further converted try late in the game as the structure became stretched, though the result was never in doubt.
It was real opportunity for the Coaches to move players around and look at their technique and decision making in unfamiliar roles, all of which has been noted for this weeks training session!
However, lots of positives to take away as an intensive few weeks now beckons on the run in to Christmas with next Sundays away fixture at Wharfedale and the following week, our 2nd round Yorkshire Cup game away at Old Brods.
All in all, a useful and satisfying result!
