Bees U 14’s take comfortable win!

Arriving at the Laund Stadium, Bees were keen to put into practice, strong rucking and solid tackling in advance of next weeks Cup game having worked hard in training over the last few weeks.
The score clearly tells a story though YMCA took the game to The Bees in the first half and fought ferociously for the ball at the breakdown.
Dropping down to 13 a side to accommodate some late YMCA withdrawals meant that we lost our 2 flankers but redistributed the line up with Sam B moving to centre supporting Samuel M, a partnership that worked particularly well as the game evolved.
Going through the phases and retaining possession, the forwards including Rowan, Tolly, James, Emelio and Dan were able to dictate the pattern of play before Ben Davy and Jacob were able to release the backs and Ashton was soon over the line for the first try with Sam B converting.
Next were Samuel M and Tolly getting over the whitewash with further conversions by Sam B.
YMCA pushed back getting into our 22 on a number of occasions though our defence stood firm and they never made into the final 5 metres.
The second half followed the pattern of the first with our defence holding strong and ferocious tacking with Max, Jacob, James, Tom, Tolly, Rohan and Dan all putting their bodies on the line.
The tries came thick and fast with Rohan breaking out with a strong solo effort followed by another from Ashton after powerful running, Sam B.
A final try from Ashton for his hat trick in the corner was fitting reward for some strong running and the powerhouse that is becoming our pack were happy to see him race away into the distance after some strong work in the field.
Whilst we shuffled the boys around to ensure game time for all there were strong contributions from Louie, Luka, Connor M and Thomas C.
So, lots of positives to take away as an intensive few weeks now beckons on the run in to Half Term with next Sundays home fixture in the Yorkshire Plate Competition v Pocklington and then successive games against Skipton & North Ribb.
All in all, a useful and satisfying result!
