Bees U14’s 26 Otley U14’s 22

The season has started strongly with an increased squad size and good intensity in training and so the boys were all looking forward to testing themselves against Otley, a team that arrived with a strong reputation after their victory against Ilkley last week.
Getting off to a strong start, the boys began to control the game through powerful rucking before Samuel Mantle opened the scoring and Sam Bryan quickly converted.
A battle between the forwards was taking shape and just as Bees began to assert themselves Otley ran way with a break away effort, the conversion falling short.
Strong scrummaging, rampaging rucking, slick handling and powerful running is a winning combination and so it proved with the Bees running in a further 3 tries including a brace from Rohan Thaper and Ashton Coatesworth crossing the whitewash late in the game.
Otley attempted a come back as the Bees team was shuffled around giving all our players game time but the difference in our kicking secured the game.
A really pleasing team performance from the boys who backed each other throughout. Lots of positives to take away and with half term approaching an emphasis on training for the next few weeks before the Yorkshire Cup beckons.
All in all, a good scalp!
