It was fantastic game to watch yesterday and the lads played really well against Old Rishworthians. The Bees nearly did everything we asked them to do by identifying the opposition’s danger men early on and keeping them out of the game. We tackled and rucked well, and when the opportunity arose we ran forward and made good ground. Our driving mauls were exceptional, particularly in the first half and showed what an effective attacking tool this can be.
Despite this the opposition took the lead with an un-converted try.
Will McCallum-Lodge scored a brilliant long range try after taking a neat pass from Byron he used his pace up the right wing to score under the posts. This was duly converted by Dominic, who is growing into his role as full back.
However, back of the match was this week was Nicky, although he did play a good part of his time on the pitch as flanker but when JAM got injured he moved to scrum half and carried on exactly where JAM left off delivering good ball most of the time to the other backs.
Forward of the match this week went to Alex with a typical Number 8’s try in addition to a number of straight, strong runs. Sadly we missed this conversion and 8 minutes from the end Rishies scored another un-converted try but Bees were still winning 12 points to 10.
The next 6 minutes were heroic with the Bees defending while Rishies threw everything at them and unfortunately they broke through and scored under the posts with 2 minutes to go, final score Rishies 17 Bees 12.
