Success breeds success - BEES U13s shift up a gear.

Damp morning at Wagon Lane welcomed the U13s BEES and away team Cleckheaton this morning. With an early start for Mega Watts who had carried out an early pitch inspection shortly followed by a confident nod of approval, it was game on.

Lined up for action the BEES had a stunning turnout of 16x players, absent from the squad was Oliver Scarrat Hercules, Bilal Sniper and Harry Houdini. None the less it was great to welcome back Magic Dan and Thomas Warhorse both fit and welcoming 2019.

With no further ado, Captain George W Bite yer legs led the team out to face their challengers Cleckheaton, a strong team of past, both in size and ability the BEES knew there was no room for complacency. And with firm words from Boss Hogg and Tom Beesman Senior the boys were ready to take on the game.

Following a good strapping from Nurse Sally, Mega Watts stepped into his refereeing role to bring the two teams together. Ready to go, Mega Watts blew his whistle for Cleckheaton to lead with a solid attacking line against BEES. Soon to the ball the BEES fought back, their defensive line built to last drawing back Cleck back into their half. It was soon apparent the BEES forwards were on form, Thomas Warhorse leading the pack with some power drives pushing Cleck off the rucks, supported by Ismael Rocket Man, and James The red, amber and black engine all supporting the front line.

Following the ball on break down was Sam Power Rocket, and there to release and offload to fly half Jack Green Demon and Galatico Fernando. Then the BEES magic kicked in, through the hands of Isaac Tomahawk, Joe The Lauging Assassin out to Charlie The Flying Beesman who powered a magic run to take the lead for the BEES.

Clearly fired up, Cleckheaton fought back but they were no match for the BEES defence. George W Bite Yer legs, attacking and stealing the ball offloading down the line out to Joe The Laughing Assassin, Jim King Cobra and out to George Fryers Anaconda who took a couple of fast side steps straightened up to take another try for the BEES.

Managing his injury, and just about keeping up Mega Watts hobbled on throughout the parents and coaches gasps and whispers. Magic Dan, back from injury showed every rugby player how to return back from injury, hungry for the ball Magic Dan worked hard through the Cleckheaton line. Supported by some great attacking from Curly The Chieftain Tank and Nathan Boss Hogg the BEES pushed on, with some changes at scrum half, Jacob Killer Watts was first on the breakdown and quick to offload down the line. Out to Green Demon Jack Hewitt, then offloading to Galatico side stepping Cleck's defensive line to take another try.

Cleck took a break just before half time to score a try to take the scoreline to 5-1. Half time, saw some changes and the spirit of the game came to life. With two Cleck injuries the BEES gifted two star players, Curly The Chieftain Tank and Charlie the flying Beesman. Now the challenge was on the BEES. The Chieftain tank took the BEES by surprise and worked hard for Cleck cutting through the BEES defence but finally the BEES reordered and even The Chieftain Tank was not enough to deter the BEES defence.

The Second half was the BEES game despite a heroic try for Cleckheaton scored by our very own Charlie The Flying Beesman, further tries for the BEES from Isaac Tomahawk who scored two tries and had a solid game, and George W Bite yer legs who worked hard and made a magic tackle in the last minute to stop his team mate The Flying Beesman, gifted to Cleck, from scoring his fourth try.

A great game of rugby today with the BEES upholding the spirit of the game from start to finish. Comment of the day was awarded to George W Bite Yer Legs 'Ref, do we have finish, this game is fun' which sums up the game whole heartedly.

Final Score - BEES-45 Cleckheaton-10

Well done boys, parents for your support and coaches for without us none of this would be possible. Final thanks to Cleck for travelling over to Wagon Lane. We wish them the very best for the rest of the season.

Two weeks and counting ... semi finals @Sandal!
