Bees U 12's v Skipton & Old Brods in 3 way

After being let down by North Ribb, Skipton kindly invited us to join their scheduled game against Old Brods which we gladly did and made up a 3–way, albeit injuries meant that again we were only able to field 10 players.

Our first game was against Old Brods and again, our usual slow start let us down whilst we struggled to find the pace of the game.

However, the spark soon ignited and the boys began to hold their own in what was a close physical encounter. Some good rugby emerged from both sides with the Bees narrowly losing out 5-3 to an Old Brods side that had travelled with a squad of 20, meaning fresh legs were regularly on the field.

In the second game against Skipton, the boys pushed hard and were unlucky to be losing going into the last few minutes having had a try disallowed and given away a soft try to Skipton following a loose pass.

However, a concerted effort in the closing seconds saw Bees go over the line to even the scores.

Some fine individual performances across the team, particularly from Tolly Lickley, Sam Bryan, Connor Gill, Sam Mantle and Luka Atanaskovic though the most pleasing aspect was how the team came together and fought their way back into each game.

This week, we have again been let down – this time by Wharfedale, but Old Brods have stepped into the breach and invited us up to theirs. It looks as though we will be able to field a slightly stronger squad.
