Bees started very well up the slope and Aaron McGee ran in the first try after 10 minutes 0:5. It went badly wrong from then on with Sandal pressing the offside line at every opportunity and forced several mistakes from the Bees backs resulting in three interception tries. In between Matt Robinson broke the defense with a strong run from center to keep the Bees in the game at half time 28:12.
With the slope advantage in the second half then the Bees were confident that the game could be won. That plan went wrong when Bees kicked away possession and Sandal ran the ball back to score in the corner. With the match effectively lost then it remained for the Bees to sort out these mistakes and start playing some rugby. The forwards led the way and destroyed their opposite pack at every set piece. Every Sandal scrum went back at lightning speed resulting in two push over tries scored by Tom Cummins to give the Bees a loosing bonus point. The dominance in the scrum was not expected as Sandal were much the bigger pack and Ronnie would have been very proud.
It is hoped that Bees have used up their seasons entire quota of mistakes and with a number of players still to return then it is expected that next week will be much better. Besides scoring twice, Tom also found 3 players at late notice. Thanks to Aaron, Do mand Josh for turning out.
