Game had to be stopped due to serious accident

This week the Bees was once again on the road, looking at the fixture list we have another 2 fixtures away before we are back defending our home.
This week saw the Bees playing the Huddersfield 3rd team, once again the age difference was very much evidence to see no dis-respect to the Huddersfield team as it was clear they was to give the Bees probably the closest game to date, with the Bees getting suck in to the way Huddersfield played just Hudds was a little better at it than the Bees.
Huddersfield played a very close pick and drive game knowing we had a lot of speed in our back line the effectively shut that part of the Bees game down or I should say the Bees did that themselves, we gave Hudds far too much possession to do what they wanted and it wasn’t long before the Bees found themselves behind on the score sheet, this seemed to wake the boys up and for the next 10 minutes played the Bees way which showed straight away what they was capable of doing when the forwards made yards to the shift the ball out to the back giving Hudds a torrid time in defence, with a scrum to the Bees sadly one of only a couple going to the Bees all game with some questionable decision being made by the official had the Bees frustrated all game with the penalty count hugely one-sided but credit to the Bees team they just played to the whistle and got on with it, so back to the Scrum just into the Hudds half getting picked up by Dominic Liversage playing No.8 this week went on a devastating run leaving body’s in his wake, I would have had money on him to finish under the stick if it wasn’t for a brave full back managing to hand on to one leg even then Dominic carry on but the extra weight seem to slow him down, but he was still able to pass the ball out to the oncoming Rhys Holland to finish off the move to cross the white wash for the first of two tries for the game, but straight form the off Bees allowed Hudds to steal the ball and with their pick and drive once again to go back in front, this was to be the way the game was played Bees would score one with Ryan Wilson once again backing his speed to run through the Huddersfield defence which we have seen Ryan time and time again scare defences with his speed and his confidence to back himself, Ryan was to go over for two tries also, but it was I think frustrations at decisions being made which left the boys questioning, that carried on giving Huddersfield a life line in the game and to use their pick and drive to good effect against and smaller and less experienced Bees pack, but you play to your strength’s which Huddersfield did very well, the Line Outs for the Bees wasn’t working today either and keep getting penalised to time and time again the ref allowing Huddersfield to close the gap to soon stopped the Bees gaining any field position which to get our back decent ball to use their speed, so the game level at 22-22 apiece with our first injury happen with Andy Nitzs having to go to Hospital with his one of his middle fingers not in the best of shape I won’t go into too much detail, it’s not Halloween yet, but from the coaching staff and all the lads we wish Andy a speedy recovery, not long after that we had a serious accident be it a freak one, with a clash of heads left Dominic Liversage on the floor and not moving again I won’t go into too much of the incident but we had to get Dominic to hospital, at this point and with twenty minutes left to play both teams agreed by the time we get the ambulance on site and to get the player comfortable and ready to hospital it would be better to call the reminder of the game to be stopped and to call the result as a draw, with the well-being of the player to come first.
I wish to thank Huddersfield for their help with Dominic its always fantastic to see the respect between other clubs.
Also a big thank you to Olivia our Physio for her work with Dominic, and to Martin Walker one of the Bees player’s dad for his support and help with calling the emergency services.
We all at Bradford and Bingley Rugby Club wish both player’s speedy recovery’s
This week we saw the squad learn not to get drawn into the way other team are playing and to play our own game all you can do is play to the whistle start again and continue to support each other as a team, that said this is still a very young side I would hazard a guess one of the youngest in the league, with eight player’s playing senior rugby for the first time this season but the more they play the more they will gain form it moving forward, this team is building for the future of the club with some exciting times to come.
I keep saying this there was gear performances from a lot of players, it was good to have Will Broadbent back in the team, Corey Spencer leading his team from the front and directing his team, once again putting in a big shift, having Ryan Wilson showing his pace for another two tries, and Rhys Holland also putting in a shift with Two of his own tries, week in week out this lad doesn’t get to much of a mention but does so much for his team and his direction at the back being able to read the game for someone so young has a bright future in the game so wanted to say well done to Dominic Walker for another solid game.
Man of the Match this week went to someone how in attack never stopped with ball in hand and never allow anyone pass him in defense, always speaking to the people around him giving his advice as being one of the oldest on the team at just 26 years old. With week the award went to Dominic Liversage, with a really big shift this week, and sadly getting hurt, Well Done! And speedy recovery.
Next week see the squad away to Halifax Dukes, so let’s get everyone down going through the team runs in preparation for the next game.
