Bradford & Bingley’s Dan Cookson made it three tries in two weeks tonight with a brace either side of half time as his team made it into the semi-finals of the Aire-Wharfe Cup.
Other try-scorers for the Bees second strings on a gloomy night at Wagon Lane were Jim McBirnie and Giles Hetherington and as Wharfedale’s Development team were beaten 30-7's. Harry Key converted two and Matt Robbinson had slotted two first half penalties.
Yarnbury are also through to the last four after winning a battle of reserve sides 14-7 at home to Bradford Salem.
Left winger Russell Gomersall got the only try for the men from Brownberrie Lane, Ian Bartlett adding three penalties, while Salem’s response came from Dominic Ram (try) and Dane Bairstow (conversion).
There were points galore in the two first-round Aire-Wharfe Plate ties tonight, with West Leeds triumphing 38-8 at Old Otliensians and Roundhegians thrashing visitors Halifax 69-29.
The draws will be made Wednesday night at Keighley.
