The home side had the better of the first thirty nine minutes of this encounter, with a penalty and a try giving Halifax and 8-0 lead as the half approached. The Halifax try. came as Bees wingman Cobi Denton allowed a speculative kick to the corner to bounce and land in the arms of his opposite number who had charged after the kick.
The Bees were pressing deep into the home twenty two and with the referee starting lo look at the watch, it seemed all the bumping and barging from the pack would be in vain. However, Jim Nicholas, playing out of position in the centre had other ideas and was on hand to drive over from close range. Dom Walker slotted the conversion to pull the Bees within a point of their hosts. However, the half was not yet over, with the clock ticking into a fourth minute of added time, Oliver Leadbeater ploughed over from a line out wide on the left. Walker obliged with the conversion to turn the sides round at 14 points to eight.
The second half got off to the worst possible start for the visitors as they made a complete mess of defending the kick off and the ball was picked up by former Bees player Ben Bottomley who showed he has not lost any of his pace, to zip up the right touchline for the score. The conversion put the home side back in front at 15-14.
With 52 minutes played the Bees were back in front as Lewis Brook barged over under the posts, giving Walker an easy shot for the conversion. Six minutes later, skipper Luke Spauls was in the scoresheet with another rumble over the line. Halifax pegged the Bees back slightly with a penalty between those scores, and try number five arrived on 63 minutes as Denton was put through by Ben Hemsley after the centre made a break through the Halifax defence. Hemsley's pass was superbly timed to give Denton a jog to the line for his first Senior try.
Another former Bees player, Aidan Scully then stepped up to blast over a penalty for Halifax from around 45 metres out, but with the score at 21-31 the home side would still have to score at least twice to pull the game back. With three minutes to play, the Bees made sure of taking home the victory as Adam Mapals was the last man with the ball to score. Walker landed the conversion for a seventeen point win.
