In 1982 the former Northern Union powerhouse; Bradford RFC and regional Junior rugby club; Bingley RUFC made the decision join forces and combine their playing and infrastructural resources.

It was to be a decision of mutual benefit as the young Bradford & Bingley Rugby Football Club embarked on a journey that would see them continually punch above their weight playing fixtures against English rugby powerhouses of Sale, Leeds & Saracens.

In the 1990 season, Bradford & Bingley RFC even played a homecoming invitational match against The Barbarians as part of The Barbarians centenary year, having been formed at Bradford RFC 100 years earlier. Further success was to come upon the creation of regional & national leagues as, the newly branded Bradford & Bingley Bees, began to climb up to the lofty heights of National League 2 2006/2007 which would see them travel as far field as Launceston in Cornwall.

In honour of past, current & future players, Bradford & Bingley RFC are proud to announce the launch of Legacy Numbers celebrating and recognising the commitment & service of players representing the club.

Each player will be issued with a number that correlates to the chronological order of when they made their debut for the Bradford & Bingley RFC 1st team. The first ever Loosehead Prop to represent Bradford & Bingley RFC would be issued with B&B Player #1 and the first ever Fullback would be B&B Player #15 with each new debut following on chronologically.

Alongside this, to recognise the service of many 2nd team players who may not have had the opportunity to represent Bradford & Bingley RFC 1st team but had still committed and contributed to the club, an online form will be released for past players to complete, due to there not being a continuous record of players playing 2nd team rugby. As a community club which serves its community, its is important that the contribution of all players to the continuation of this young club is recognised.

Whilst the Legacy Number project is roughly 80% complete, if you are a past player with information or records from the early years of Bradford & Bingley RFC please contact Ali MacDonald via the contacts page on the website.
