Heavy defeat and injury sustained at the weekend

A powerful Almost All Blacks side snatched a two point victory after dominating much of the game. Mo Parker spent much of March and April recruiting his largely 1st team and private school educated players from across West Yorkshire.
The AAB side were sponsored by work colleagues and made a generous donation to the Bumbles tour fund. In addition Morrisons Supermarkets supplied a fantastic spread for the players the like of which Bumbles Player Ross McUrich will not be able to taste for a long time after sustaining a broken jaw. The Almosts did not escape injury either when 'Big Danny' ended up at the bottom of a pile of bodies with three cracked ribs.
In preparation for the summer Mo Parker prepared a warm wind of words most of which is complete nonsense. SEE BELOW.

Before the game even started Bumbles manager Mark Goodwin, pulled a flanker.........not a wing forward type flanker but a flanker of the devious type staging the game on a postage stamp of a pitch which was more suited to bowls, thus stifling the fast creative "Almosts" back line.
Here is a run down of the Almosts players-
Paul Exley(Aireborough, old grovellingians,Harrow) played a Captains role in slowing the pace every time he got his hands on the ball but on a more positive note bought me a pint of pepsi in the bar after the game-event noted in diary.
Tony Exley(Aireborough,Yorkshire,Strangeways)totally outplayed older brother Paul-covered every inch of grass-which was not many on this pitch.Faster, stronger and fitter than much older brother Paul-who calls him Thomas the Tank, not because he trundles over people like a tank or because he is built like a tank-but Paul says he has a face like a tank(I am informed by the ladies this is completely untrue and Tony is the good looking one)
Brookie snr(Aireborough,Old Audionions) showed his ability and fitness by playing for both sides-is considering coming out of retirement to give the crowd a laugh EVERY week.
Brookie jnr (Aireborough,Woodhouse Grove) put himself about a bit, made the odd tackle-has a lot to do to be as good as "dad".
Jim Hutchinson(Bees and some soft southern team) Arrived late for the game and also for every ruck, maul and tackle, father of Alfie(come back soon) looked tired before the match-apparently had a couple of shandys the night before.Kept dropping ball-blamed it on blurred vision.
Darren Lee(Almosts)showed touches of class-refused to be bullied into drinking his pint too fast in the drink race in the bar.On the pitch did nowt-voted Man of the Match by Dave Morris for buying Man of the Match trophy.
Danny Arnold(Aireborough,Morrisons) Played like he was in a cup semi-final until Daniel and Ryan ganged up on him and he had to leave the field with a shoulder injury-did not seem to bother him supping pints in the bar though.
Luke Goodall(Halifax RL,Keighley Cougars RL,Baildon RUFC,Yorkshire)Voted Man of the Match by the Bumbles voting panel.Showed class with ball in hand, avoided any tackling, ran fast, managed to offload ball before being tacked missed conversion from touchline-for which he was forgiven.
Mickey the Fish Bar man(Bramley,Morrisons)A delight to play fly half with him at scum half-the ball came out fast and accurate, thus avoiding me getting smashed(were you watching Dave Morris for future games)not quick enough to score a try like "Big Danny".
Andy Hutchinson(no relation to Jim)(Scarborough and some Uni team)Works as a security officer-his fitness and lack of pace are not what you might call a threat to "tea leaves".
Jason Warden and Matthew Warden the speedy brothers who should have scored a try or two but for the odd "forward pass" or two spotted by the eagled-eyed referee.Much better players than dad David who had work commitments(despite six weeks notice)
Alex Good(Salem,Yorkshire)Young, fast and fit.Supported well, tackled everything that moved, rucked well, mauled well-an asset to the team(post the cheque today as promised eh!)
Rhys Green (Salem,Yorkshire, and another top class school team-he did tell me but I forgot(age you know) but I do remember him saying the Queen approved it).Fast centre who can only improve playing with a quality team like the "Almosts".
Gary Scott(Bramley,Salem,Armley)Another late arrival.Used his size, strength, speed and experience-slowed down in the latter stages after being roughed up by Hassan.
Maurice Parker(Wibsey RUFC,Morley RFC,Keighley RUFC,Aireborouigh RUFC,International Harvesters RFL,Fairweather Green Steelers RFL,Shipley Brittania RFL and anyone who needed a quality player)Started at Fly Half, moved to Open side Prop, then to Blind side Prop and ended up on the wing, scored the try of the season gathering the ball deep inside his own half, outpacing the Bumbles backs and touching down in the corner(anyway thats how "I" remember it.
The try scorers were Danny Arnold,Paul Exley,Mo Parker and Rhys Green(two).
Another great game enjoyed by all and it would be remiss of me not to thank Hanson Haigh for refereeing at short notice-without referees the game connot be played and thats not just because I am one-honest!
STOP PRESS The word ARMLEY should read THE ARMY after Gary Scotts name-sorry Gary.
